Richard Hutten
Richard Hutten was born in the Netherlands in 1967. After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1991, he founded his studio in Rotterdam, with his practice spanning furniture, product, and interior design. Guided by the concept of Homo Ludens—the playing human—his studio focuses on creating conceptual, optimistic designs that blend functional clarity with playfulness and surprise. A key representative of Droog Design since 1993, he has collaborated with major global manufacturers including Moooi, Muji, Offecct, Artifort, Kvadrat, Moroso, and Christofle. Recognized with awards such as the Red Dot and German Design Awards, his work is held in over 40 permanent museum collections worldwide, including MoMA, the V&A, and Centre Pompidou, establishing him as one of the most widely collected living Dutch designers.
