Gert Wingårdh & Erik Wikerstål
Gert Wingårdh and Erik Wikerstål are prominent Swedish architects whose collaborative work spans large-scale architecture, historic preservation, and industrial design. Wingårdh, born in Skövde, Sweden, in 1951 and educated at Chalmers University of Technology, is the founder of the renowned practice Wingårdhs, while Wikerstål, born in Helsingborg in 1952, leads Wikerstål Arkitekter, a studio specializing in public buildings and cultural heritage restoration. Their collaborative portfolio includes the major renovation of Stockholm's Nationalmuseum. Guided by a shared respect for material structure, organic modernism, and traditional craftsmanship, the duo translated the architectural facade design of the museum into an interior scale, creating the Soundwave® Wicker acoustic panel for Offecct. Recognized with prestigious national awards and membership in the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, their practice delivers thoughtful, enduring solutions that seamlessly integrate architecture, acoustic performance, and distinctive material expression.
